Sam Walsh - Cornish Artist

Sam Walsh, a prolific artist living in Cornwall, who has a passion for painting and the sculpted medium is coming to Driftwood Gallery Truro Saturday, November 8th 2pm to 5pm

to launch some specially selected original paintings from his personal diaries. Sam, now in his early sixties, found his way south to Cornwall during his late teens with a desire to improve his life. In the mid sixties he found his creative domicile in the small Cornish village of Newquay, on the North Atlantic Coast and became embraced by its embryonic culture. Experiencing the power created where the ocean meets land, Sam walked straight forward into a life in Cornwall, with steps that were to lead him through the roll of decades on a journey of personal consequence.

Clean water campaigners the Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) and the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) are delighted with the news that six major retailers have agreed to implement new labelling on cotton bud packaging following persuasive action by both groups. The new measures will encourage customers to ‘Think Before They Flush’, and help prevent these items from washing up on the nation’s beaches. There are now 10 major retailers currently using or about to phase-in the clearer labelling across the UK.

BIG NAMES TO BATTLE IN SOLID 4FT WAVES TODAY!

Wednesday, August 6, 2008:
Some solid four to five foot (1.2 to 1.5 meter) waves are breaking for Day 2 of competition and all top seeds will paddle out in order to complete the 24-Heat round. With 25-minute battles, officials aim at completing 10 hours of contest today and the last 48 men in the Rip Curl Boardmasters will be known tonight. UK surfers Jayce Robinson, Oli Adams, Matt Capel and Alan Stokes will be battling it out for a spot in the next round.
