Santander Spain information

By garethedwards at 2:09pm on 29th Sep, 2006

Has anyone been to santander in spain?
I'm going for a week on the 15th of Nov and really don't trust airlines with my board I've seen first hand what the luggage handlers treat them like!!!!

I'd like some info on whether I can hire a couple of boards out there for myself and my wife.
Also which are the best surf breaks nearby, reasonable but good accommodation and whether we're gonna need to hire a car or is it possible to get by on public transport?

Thanks
Gareth

i know it's too late for info

i surfed santander in sept and had great surf, travelled by public transport around northern spain (mundaka, san sebastian, bilbao),the coaches were cheap and had good luggage compartment for boards.try somo beach, ajo, sardinero in santander wich are all close by.

pic

by the way my profile pic is santander from somo beach.great sunsets!

good surf

my answer is too late for your trip, but it might help other people in the future; "el brusco" is the best beach break of spain ( rodiles and mundaka are river mouth ) you have also there one of the longest point breaks of europe " la fotaleza", well this is for close to laredo, in summer the best surf is in Somo as it said previously and also over "Berria" let us know what was your best surf there

sorry

i would like to say also sorry for my poor english as i'm not a native speaker, but i try to share as much as i can my information
