Surf wasn't looking too hot so we took off on a trip to the hills - checking out the cool city of Kandy and the even cooler-sounding Temple of the Tooth - home of Buddha's tooth!!!

Did some other cool stuff - went to a huge Elephant orphanage - and we're both convinced they are the greatest animals on earth. We even took a ride on one, and it gave us a wash...

Climbed a big old rock with an ancient city on the top called Sigiriya:

We got back to Hikkaduwa to find the surf still small, but rideable. We held the first round of the A-frame surf contest in clean 2-3ft waves. I was a judge with three others and clare got some good shots. Thankfully our swift depatrure after the results were read meant we escaped unharmed. Good experience, but here's hoping the surf picks up...
