Kia ora bro

Kia ora bro - ha ha that's our first entry from overseas and it couldn't be much further away, unless we get an entry from Antarctica!

Awesome footage - snappy editing so you get heaps of energy from the film. West is best - reminds me of home... (dorkland)

Just thought that I better point out that this is a comp for home vids, not for professional/commercial productions, so if you're just a keen amateur with some mates who surf good, could you explain a bit more about it and how the project evolved?

And how the hell did you hear about the comp in the South Island of NZ!

Long white cloud

Spent a month on the South Island and the biggest problem I had with the surf was having no one to surf with! Pulled up at so many spots that were cranking but extremely remote and when you're on your own and have never surfed there before it's a worry. (My wife wouldn't get in water under 25c even if I was going down for the third time!). North West from Westport to Greymouth found a few surfers and surfed with one other guy at Punakaiki (tourist) but from there down the West... huge clean surf no surfers. Found a couple around Invercargill (weird place) then surfed quality waves all on my tod up through the Caitlins with the exception of one day bumping into Margo, Dylan Longbottom and Photog Simon williams in the middle of nowhere (I think they were as shocked to find a Pom and his missus in the back of beyond as I was to see them. Check out the NZ section in Wanderjarh Brendan Margiesons vid). Dunedin was the exception plenty of waves plenty of surfers, you know they get size when the groms short boards are 6'10"s!!.

So where is this footage from? And did you have to ring around to get some surfers out!!?

Aotearoa

Ha yea uncrowded perfection... mmmm....

All of the surf on the film is from around the northern West Coast (Westport) and around Dunedin...

I come from Westport and go to uni in Dunedin...

what a lifestyle!

pretty sick

Cool video - how do we get the full feature???????? I really want to see what happens on that last wave.... looks like its gonna barrel off its head.....
good luck with it
