east coast surf

By john cockerell at 10:45am on 12th Feb, 2007

just surfed sutton on sea for the first time,(11/02/2007) solid 4-5 feet cleean and glassy,if a little brown, but the best thing was there was not a soul out there, i know that you don't want everyone coming over ther easties, but even the locals, who were a little confused with what i was doing were really freindly, plus found a nice pub for a slap up sunday dinner for a fiver.
much easier driving 2 hours than 5 and half, thanks again.

Sounds good! guess its a bit

Sounds good! guess its a bit better on the enviromental front as well with that much driving to get west ways!

Sandilands

Where abouts were you - at sutton itself or sandilands just to the south of sutton? Most people surf at sandilands.

I have some more dodgy footage from a few days before (06/02/07). Just two other people in. Only a couple of minutes worth, before my camera imploded. See attached link to google video.

nice vid mate

yeah i was up at sutton itself, was a bit bigger than the day you took your vid, lovely colour water eh?
not only is it better on the enviroment but on the brain too, 5 1/2 hours does take it out of ya, catch you in the line up if the swell holds boys.
shame about your camera got a freind who sells cameras and he says that there is a digital camera about that is up to 10 meters watertight and takes video for £180,preety cool eh? want one myself so if i get one i'l keep ya posted.

East coast is just as good

East coast is just as good as the west, and i think we probably have the best reefs, a bit further up than Lincs tho. Hey why you never surfed the East side before?

no real reason just didn't

no real reason just didn't know when or where, but now that sutton on sea is up and running thats cool.
hey how far up do you need to go to start hitting some reef nortshore?
oh and how do you know the dynamite vid is fake? how did they do it?

Re The Reefs, basically from

Re The Reefs, basically from Flamborough up, so mostly North Yorks up.

The vid is just fancy editing, overlaying of shots etc. The surfer is surfing the Danish coast. The film was made grainy to look as tho it was taken on a mobile phone.

Just trawling through my

Just trawling through my pics, this is South Bay Scarborough on a massive northerly swell a couple of weeks ago. The beach faces east so this was wrapping around the harbour and producing waves that only normally work on an easterly swell.

scarborough

That was an awesome day- and great photo. It was a busy one though wasnt it, being the only bay working that day. Here's a comedy one from last weekend in north bay..how many on a wave...?!

Easter Sunday + Comp Sutton on Sea

Great turn out loads of bods on the beach I counted 30 plus surfers out, all of which seemed to be enjoying the conditions although the wave was a bit closey but super clean the odd shoulder was found and nailed some of the guys out there where of a real good standard, seems people will lower themselves and ride the mighty Lincs coast instead of driving for miles to get a zooed peak hope to see you all out there on the next swell. and lets get the pics up as well coz there were loads of snappers out there on the beach

Scarboro poo bags!

Scarboro is crap compared to further north! Big up the Whitby & Saltburn Crews!
