By benji at 9:39pm on 1st Mar, 2007

Hi everyone. Im just looking for a bit of background on south west france breaks. Im going to Biscarosse Plage this summer with a bunch of friends. Just wondering if anyone whos been here or around this area could enlighten me as to how consistent it is in summer, and what sort of stuff there is in the area, that would be pretty cool. cheers guys.........

Bisacarrosse

Benji,

Biscarrose is a great Beach Break but summer along this coast can be very fickle and SUPER BUSY..Bets Time is as of 1st of September as soon as school holidays are over.

SUmmer is really busy but you'll have some fun too... Usually there's plenty of waves except for some flat spell when a high pressure system settles over the north atlantic... Look out for the nude and gay beaches in the area, you don't want to be wearing a wetsuit when everybody else is naked...

Oh and don't forget you have over 250km of beach so if you're in a busy spot you just need to walk 10 minutes along the beach to find an empty line-up!!

17 Days and counting

Not long until im off now, thanks alot for the tips and advice guys, but i could do with just one more tip.....
I know its a bit of a vague question, but does anyone know the average wave height for july/august over on the SW coast of france? Also i've got two boards, a stub fish (6'4"x20"), and a little performance santa cruz (5'10"x 17.5)..... any recommendations on which one to take? - although im gonna try n take both.
thanks

Take both mate

Its been a while since I was in France, about 10 years! I surfed Le Vieux Boucau for a couple of weeks and got consistent 4ft clean for the whole fortnight! The fish would be better to take if you have to choose, but it depends completely on whats happening in the Atlantic! Keep an eye on the european forcasts till the last minute!

Hope you score some good ones!
