The Saltrock Open to be held at Downend Point
Posted at 9:44pm on 29th Mar, 2007Things are hotting up in the run up to The Saltrock Open. Top international surfers are returning to the UK from all over the world to be part of the first leg of the 2007 UK Pro Surf Tour, which will take place on Easter weekend in Croyde...

The venue is perfect – Downend Point is right on the corner as you round the tip from Saunton and turn into Croyde Bay, so all eyes will be on the contest arena as revelers flock to the village for Easter weekend. The long weekend of 7th / 8th / 9th April will see surfers of all ages and abilities gather in Croyde to take part in what has become a major tour highlight. Past years have seen some epic conditions and heroic performances from the best surfers in the country, making this first tour pit-stop into one of the most anticipated UK contests in the surfing year.
The Manor in Croyde has been confirmed as the venue for the Saturday night party. This is where all the surfers and spectators will be able to come together and really let their hair down. The party starts at 7.30pm so put it in your diary. Saltrock has been a prominent part of the North Devon surfing community for over 20 years and remains proud sponsor of this prominent leg of the tour. The event will feature 4 main categories: Men’s Open, Pro-Juniors, Women’s Open and the Groms Tour. The Groms Tour includes 3 categories; an Under-12s Open, an Under-16 Boys and Under-16 Girls.
