Surftech

By Kernowdel at 10:13am on 10th Sep, 2007

I have been surfing for over 30 years and am thinking of adding a surftech longboard to my quiver. What im worried about is the board feeling dead under my feet. Some boards feel alive and i have been very lucky with my boards they all bar one have had the alive feeling. The one that felt dead under my feet was bought in Hawaii and it was a machine shapped board. It went ok. But just felt dead. This is why im worried about the surftech idea. as its not been shaped by a human will it have that dead feeling to it. Is there any one out there that has a surftech board that can persuade me one way or the other
Cheers

surftech? not for purists!

Regards to surftech technology, For me personaly i like the feel, I only have one within my quiver of four boards, but if it ever breaks/gets stolen etc i'll just pop to the shop and get another board exactly the same (for only £500 i hear you say??) Under my feet it feels very light and super responsive, it's now ended up with me contemplating selling one possibly two of my other boards as i ride the surftech board more often than any of the others, but, at the end of the day this is just my own personal opinion, I short board so i can't pass on any opinion on how the long board will ride or feel for you but i think the general feed back is thumbs up!!

Surftechs

I have heard mixed opinions on epoxys in general, had a go on quite a few, they definetely feel different, one mate had an NSP which was shit. We smashed it with hammers and burned it, i gave him a real board as a replacement. Also i know lots of people who have snapped the S-core boards, might want to avoid! Why not go mad, spend a packet and buy an Aviso Carbon Fibre (hollow) board, they wont snap, stong as hell and are meant to be the dogs!

RoBM

NB: Surftechs and the like are expensive, i normally pay less than £200 for a new custom! I could have 2 and a £100 for beer! Ive only snapped 2 boards in my time so is there any point in buying an EPS jobby?

Thanks for replying. im gonna get one, but am gonna research the hollow board you said about. I spent 50 quid on beer yesterday, and dont feel too special today, so saving money on a board to spend it on beer is not on the agenda. Not today anyway.
Thanks again

Surftech? not for purists

Thanks Yan. I ride a short board to, but with the crowds these days i do seem to be riding longer boards. At the moment my main board is a 6"10 magic carpet. But thanks for your reply, I have had 2 replys and they are both in favour, so it looks like I will get one
