Surf Trip

By RobM at 3:41pm on Thu, 13th Mar

Goin on a trip tommorow, hopefully hunt down some man waves! Woohooo!

Any suggestions for some heavy hollow waves?

Craboooo

Probably missed you - but if you can make it as far as Ireland it's got to be Crab Island. Heavy hollow fast and a scary paddle. Ticks all the boxes.

Trip

My trip got cancelled, major bummer, ended up surfing North Fistral and a quick sesh at Crantock. Basically stayed on my doorstep!

Crab is a true man wave, been there before. Looking to re-organise a trip. Possibly go back to my native North Yorks on a slab hunt too when the charts look good!

Slotted

That last shot is awesome! That lip is just chucking out. There's no escape when you're that deep. Do you mind if I promote these three shots to the front page - over the next couple of days?

Sure

I didnt take the photos, dont see why u cant use em, my mate emailed me them from north yorks where i used to live.

The spot in question used to be secret, most people know where it is. It is the best wave in UK in my opinion. Not a short wave either, an epic pointbreak SLAB!

Concrete pipes

Nice one Rob. I'll set it up to run over the next few days. Great shots. I just love the brown/grey intensity of the waves. When they're that colour and no light can get through then they look like tunnels of concrete. Just adds to the heavy feeling of the wave. You'd have to be at the top of your surfing game to feel comfortable in waves like that.

Slabby waves

I learned to surf on that type of wave, now all i got is beachbreak here in cornwall, Porthleven never seems to be on, if not its packed. There are a couple of other spots but its a bit of a treck to get to. I want to go to Ireland soon for the clean water version!

N Yorks Beachie perfection

Have a good easter Sam! Shame about the forecast situation, Grr NW'lies!

View from the inside of said slab/point!

Dirty Barrel!

Light at the end of the tunnel...

That's a cracker - a dark envelope... Was the guy swimming out with a water proof cam? He didn't take while on a board - nah that'd be to much..?

Reminds me of Indo views...

DIRTY LOVE TUNNEL

If you look closely you can see 2 people down the line! A proper shack!! Indoesque indead!

those waves look familiar

nice shots there old boy. there is a chance i surfed some of them with you. Decided anagrams are the way forward with the secret spots. so nice shots of tsiaesht. Definitely a heavy day. A local lip landed on my head and compressed me on my board. Ruptured ligaments and 2 months out of the water-crap

NE Perfection

I rate tsiaesht up there with Thurso, it is perfection sometimes.

Wish there was more reef down here in Cornwall, plenty of swell and tons of crap beachie.

Wish it was warmer and more consistant, id probably move back to North Yorks.

Whoa...

Jesus Rob that top pic is mad - I've run out of adjectives for the recent pics you've been putting up.

hehe

Yer, the place is sick, scary but sick! I miss it.

Surf looks gash for the weekend here, another weekend doing up the boat for summer. We are going to be getting to our surf spots by boat in summer to avoid all the tourist muppets/traffic jams etc, plus it will have that boat charter feel everytime i rock up at the local beachies for a bit of summer slop lol, plus the mackeral feathers and the spear guns are coming out of the garage soon!

Might even find some new inaccesible little slabs or summat. fingers crossed.

Ah nearly the weekend!

Laters :)

Stop naming spots you dick

Are you sure you have surfed these spots. You have also nicked the pics. If you were from up here you would not mention these spots on an open forum, there are already too many pasties up here on good swells keep it shut and keep it to our selves, everyone else buy a map.

To any mods and admin can you not post pics with names of secret spots even if some have been blown by mags and idiots.

everyone knows

Everyone knows these spots who is good enough to surf them, there hardly a secret anymore, hence i wont surf one of them anymore cos its too busy ALREADY! and yes i surfed them on tuesday actually.

Just how local are you Northswell.

have a go at all the mags and every other site. I know i didnt take all the pictures, i stated that above. I did take some of them though!

I'm local enough and surf s

I'm local enough and surf s land a lot its just a case of not mentioning them on an open forum otherwise the crowds get bigger and bigger and with people that can't handle them.

I've been surfing the east coast for thirteeen years and its just annoying that you can just google these spots that used to take a search and a map with no one on them.

Oh and if you are/were from up here why the need to go on a slab hunt?? No secrets anymore unless you head north of the tyne.

i think you're mistaken

frankly guys once a break has been in wavelength et al they are kind of gone already. so ,deep breath and let it go. there are plenty of quite breaks for those that know. you can still surf uncrowded waves all day long.

Secrets

The place was in the original stormrider for f*$£ sake, and if you travel 5 miles either direction there are tons of other spots. get a life! And yes i grew up about 1.5 miles from the place.

i rate a couple of other not so far away waves even more anyway, at least they wont be full of agro gits like you, oh and next time you think of going on a trip then consider that locals elsewhere might not want you turning up. Will that stop you?

To be fair i have looked you up and your from f$*"ing sheffield! easily 80 miles away. Although i now live in the pasty land im a North yorkshire man, and im sure youll be welcomed with open arms down here with all the rest. Think about it!

Cheers Steve for your support!

Rob
