Suitable board for beginner

By Han_x at 7:59pm on Mon, 1st Sep

Hi, I have recently started surfing and would now like to buy a board, wetsuit and boots. Can anyone recommend what kind of board I should be looking to get. I hear soft tops are most suitable for beginners? What size should I aim for (I am 5ft 4) and what type of board? Also, what kind of wetsuit would be suitable and are there any recommended brands I should be aiming for as far as durability and quality are concerned? There are so many out there I am slightly lost :-S Any guidance/recommended websites etc would be greatly appreciated.

I guess if youve been surfing already and got on ok with that board, you should go for something similar.

You'd probs be best with a 7 foot-ish mini mal or something similar, maybe a longboard, and make sure whatever you get is wide enough for extra balance :)

Thanks :)

Thanks Nick, I really appreciate the reply as I am still looking and still completely baffled! Can you recommend any websites?

Thanks again.

Hmmmm, boardshop.co.uk has a lot of stuff on it, and im sure if you google it you'd find other sites.

Almost got my first board off there, but if you can it may help to go to a surfshop and ask them what they think you should be riding - i'm no expert !

Surf Life

Hiya there - may be a little late but stumbled across this site Surf Life the other day. It seems to list a huge range of products and discount codes for surf boards. Good luck
