Check out this web site it sounds like a great idea, especialy if you have ever lost a board.

What's the story?

Can't see the site in firefox - do they put a chip in your board or something?

Dog tags

Yer man they put a wee tag in your board, just like the dog tags. You register it to your name and stuff. if the board turns up in a shop then they can fin the owner. its kind of cool but it wont help with the ever growing trend of e-shopping. i guess it may make board insurance a wee bit cheeper. but still got to stop the b@:~*£%s from nicking it, in the first place.

Hmmmm

I don't recon that's gonna catch on, how many boards get nicked each year? Not that many - do you get the tag put in before the board is glassed, sounds like a right hassle...what if you sell the board do have to get the tags changed. I can see that it's a good idea for cars or something but not boards...?

its a step

It looks like it gets put in the board as she is being shaped. then you buy the board and it gets recorded with your details. if you sell it on i guess you set it up new owners details. it does look like it would be hassel, as you have no way of checking the chip if you buy a board from private adds. well lets face it how often do you leave your board unattended in public, and surfers are mostly decent folk. i guess some clever folk want to bring surf into the new age maybe they should focus on making waves.
